Human Resources Certification Exam - PHR / SPHR / HRCI
This certification exam is administered by the Human Resource Certification Institute together with three other HR certifications: SPHR (Senior Professional in human resources), GPHR (global Professionals in Human resources) and PHR-CA and SPHR-CA.
To be eligible for this exam, candidates must have two years of professional level experience in the Human Resources. The candidate’s employment experience must match that of the exempt-level position codes. The candidate is expected to have used 51% of the daily activities on the human resource related activities. Supporting documentation is also required outlining and supporting this claim. Students and recent graduates may register in advance by paying the initial registration fee of $120 and the balance after they must have graduated and obtained the two years exempt professional experience. They must take the exam not later than 12 months after graduation from the bachelor’s degree program.
To apply for the Professional Human Resources Certifications Test, candidates are expected to fill the forms online and submit the required documents (proof of work experience, graduation and full payment of fees).
After the application, candidates are advised to check the status of their application online. They will be provided a 12 digit password to gain access into their forms. Those who mailed their applications can also check their status online after 10 business days. Eligible candidates are given Authorization To Test (ATT) two to three weeks after PES receives the application. Candidates are to download the ATT letters and provide email addresses with which their HRCI ID numbers and the confirmation of applications will be sent. Those who are ineligible will receive a “notice of ineligibility” letter.
On the examination day, candidates must present proof of identity to take the exam. Exam rules are to be strictly observed by all candidates.
The PHR examination is based on a scaled score. Candidates are issued with immediate preliminary test results before they leave the test hall. The official test results are mailed to candidates two to three weeks after the examinations.
