Taking the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLE)?

The Massage & Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLE) is organized and conducted by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB). The exams are conducted at various Pearson VUE computer test centers.

Eligibility


   •  Candidates must have spent at least 500 hours in training
   •  Candidates will have to submit transcripts from their schools
   •  Candidates will have to write to acknowledge that they have read and do agree to FSMTB policies
   •  Candidates must be approved by the Licensing Board or Agency of their State



Exam Registration


   •  Candidates can either apply directly to FSMTB or through a their State Agency or Licensing Board
   •  To apply directly to FSMTB, download and fill the application forms
   •  Completed forms, along with payment and relevant documents should be mailed to

   •  Physiology and Anatomy 14%
   •  Kinesiology 11%
   •  Contraindications, Areas of Caution, Pathology and Special Populations 13%
   •  Physiological Effects and Benefits of Techniques Manipulating Soft Tissue 17%
   •  Client Reassessment and Assessment, client Treatment Planning 17%
   •  Overview of Bodywork and Massage History, Culture and Modalities 5%
   •  Ethics, Boundaries, Regulations & Laws 13%
   •  Professional Practice Guidelines 10%



Exam Structure


   •  The exam is computer based with 125 multiple choice questions
   •  The MBLEX exam is timed for 2 and half hours
   •  5 minutes each is allotted for a Security Agreement and Survey section before and after the exam respectively



Other Information


   •  The application fee for the exam is $195
   •  Results are sent to the States after 24 hours
