Certified Hemodialysis Technologist, (CHT) Study Help, Study Guide and Exam Details

     •  CHN and CPDN Nurses- Valid RN, one year experience in nephrology, and current active participation in ESRD facility.
     •   LPN or LVN-Valid LPN or LVN license, current active participation in ESRD facility, and CHN or CPDN Exam or CHT Exam.
     •   Technicians (CHT)- Copy of HS diploma or official transcripts, minimum 12 months experience in nephrology patient care, and current active participation in ESRD facility.
     •   Application can be downloaded from the BONENT website.

Exam fees are as follows:

     •  First time candidates- $200 (US) and $230 (International) for paper and pencil exam, $225 (US) and $240 (International) for computer based exam.
     •  Repeat candidates within one year-$160 (US) and $230 (International) for paper and pencil exam, $1855 (US) and $240 (International) for computer based exam.
     •  Repeat candidates after one year- same as first time candidates.
     •  Annual certification fee- $55 per year or $200 for 4 years paid in advance.
     •  Additional fees will be assessed as follows:
     •  Incomplete application fee- $30
     •  Exam withdrawals and transfers- $65
     •  Insufficient funds fee- $50

     •  Computer based or paper and pencil format.
     •   150 multiple choice questions.
     •  3 hour time limit

The exam consists of 150 multiple choice questions from the following areas:

     •  Patient Care
     •   Machine Technology
     •  Water Treatment
     •   Dialyzer Reprocessing
     •  Education/Personal Development

     •  All applicants must submit 2 reference letter with their initial application. Failure to submit these references with the application will result in an additional fee.
     •   Applications must be received 45 days prior to the exam date for US applicants and 60 days prior for International applicants.
     •  Applications must be sent via mail and must be the original, signed application. Exam fees must accompany the application.
