How to Pass the RMA - Practice Tests, and Study Guide


Eligibility


To be qualified for this exam, applicant must be of good moral character, and meet one of the following requirements:

Be a graduate a student from:

     •  A medical assistant program whose programs are accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health
     •  Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
     •  A medical assistant program in a post-secondary school or college that is accredited by a Regional Accrediting Commission or by a national accrediting organization approved by the US Department of Education, which program includes a minimum of 720 clock-hours (or equivalent) of training in Medical Assisting skills or a
     •  A formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.

A working experience in the profession of Medical Assisting for a minimum of five
5 years, no more than two years of which may have been as an instructor in the post
Secondary medical assistant program is required.



Registration Process


All applicants are expected to complete and mail the applications with the application fees and all documentation to the AMT, and are kept informed of the progress of their application to make sure employers and references respond appropriately.

After the application and verification, written confirmation is sent from the AMT registrar, indicating approval with the authorization to test  letter AND all the details and exam schedule.



Exam Format


The examination is offered in a paper and pencil format. it can also be done in a computerized format, depending on the location of the candidate, application route and the certification designation. The exam which is completed in 3 hours, is made up of 200 to 210 questions. The minimum passing score of the exam is translated to 70 from a 0 to 100 scale.

The results of the exam appear on the screen immediately after the exam, and a paper copy  is issued by the proctor.
