National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN) Exam Details
The National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN) is an incorporated independent organization established with the aim of developing and implementing the voluntary certification process of school nurses. The NBCSN is an independent organization and works in collaboration with the National Association of School Nurses.
The National Certification Examination for School Nurses is held twice a year. Two week windows are scheduled for each examination period. The exam is in a computer based format (CBF) administered at testing centers around the United States.
Exam Fees
The examination is administered by the Professional Testing Corporation for the NBCSN. The registration fee is $275 (non-refundable).
Exam Format
The national exam for school nurses is a written exam composed of a maximum of 250 multiple-choice, objective questions and lasts for four hours. The exam basically scores 27% for health appraisal, 28% for health problems and nursing management, 20% for health promotion/disease prevention, 10% for special health issues and 15% for professional issues.
