Prepared Cramming – Long Term Cramming For Long Term Recall

When you have been studying all semester, you already have your notes condensed into several pages that contain all the ideas and facts for the exam (hopefully you do have your notes organized?). You know all of the new vocabulary. If you are taking a course in foreign languages, you already have flash cards that you have made for the more difficult words and phrases. By now you also have a list of common verbs used and a list of unusual verbs that is organized according to the endings of the words. When taking a technical course, by now you have cards with required material such as formulas and the derivations and cards for equivalents.

Cramming Methods

There are two basic types of cramming : intense and prepared .

With intense cramming, start a few days before the exam. Read, make notes and memorize until most of it fill in your brain. Make a list with only the words you can’t get a definition for but need to recognize and get a definition before the exam.

Although the graduate school interview is often overlooked by students, it is actually a crucial step toward being accepted into a school or program. As with a job interview, the graduate school interview is the student’s opportunity to prove they are the right candidate for acceptance. Being properly prepared for the interview may mean the difference between going to the school you want and going to the only school that wants you.
