Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) FAQ

    Positive Negative

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Chicago State University this past December with a BS in Pre-Physical Therapy and am currently working as a PT Aide with more than 800 hours of experience. Currently I am trying to get into the DPT program in one of the Illinois universities offering it. Unfortunately I was not accepted this coming year and have to wait for the next cycle to start again. With this in mind I am wondering if I am eligible to take the P.T.A. Certification exam with my background and experience? I have plenty of on-the-job training and the education to back it up but I still need this certification to at least be able to make a little more money so I can pay for the DPT program when that comes. I would greatly appreciate hearing from you in response to this inquiry.

I would suggest talking to the State Boards of Physical Therapy for those kind of questions about particular qualifications for the Physical Therapy Assistant PTA.
