Need Help Studying for the AEPA ?
All new teaching professionals must take the Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessment (AEPA) before they can teach in state of Arizona.
This is a series of standardized tests given in the state of Arizona so that the body of educators in that state meets the demands of the diverse society there. The test areas covered are from a wide range of topics and they are derived from the various organizations one of which is the Arizona Academic Standards Board.
The first part of the test covers general information about the test and test preparation guidelines and the second part is more specific containing test objectives and several practice questions. Some of the areas for study can be quite involved. For instance, there is a section in the Arts pamphlet that asks candidates how well they understand the artwork of places like Oceania and asks them to name the major periods and characteristics of Asian and Oceanian art.
As well some of the sample questions that are presented in the introductory pamphlet are subjective in nature. One for instance asks the candidate to study a painting and then pick from a list to ascertain what contributes to the overall sense of balance. Another question asks about planographic printing and then suggests three multiple choice answers.
There are four kinds of AEPA teacher certification and licensure tests: subject-knowledge tests (i. e., those that match a particular Arizona certificate), professional knowledge tests, administrator tests (Superintendent, Principal, Supervisor), and the test on the Constitutions of the United States and Arizona.
