Studying for the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Exam ?


Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is organized and administered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). The computer based exam is conducted at various Pearson VUE computer exam sites


Eligibility


   •  Candidates must have acquired a minimum of 90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours in an accredited university or college and must have completed an NAACLS accredited MLT program in the past 5 years
   •  Or, candidates must possess a pre-1982 CLA (ASCP) certification and have acquired a minimum of 90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours from an accredited university or college, to include 9 quarter hours (6 semester hours) of chemistry and 9 quarter hours (6 semester hours) of biology
   •  Or, candidates must possess and associate degree or a minimum of 90 quarter hours (60 semester hours) from an accredited university or college, to include 9 quarter hours (6 semester hours) of chemistry and 9 quarter hours (6 semester hours) of biology and should have completed a 50 week U.S. military medical laboratory training course
   •  Or, candidates must possess an associate degree or have acquired a minimum of 90 quarter hours (60 semester hours) from an accredited university or college, to include 9 quarter hours (6 semester hours) of chemistry and 9 quarter hours (6 semester hours) of biology, and candidates must have 3 years clinical laboratory experience in Chemistry, Blood banking, Microbiology, Hematology, Clinical Microscopy and Immunology in the United States or Canada within the last 10 years. 2 of the 3 years experience must have been under supervision of an American Board of Pathology certified pathologist or any other appropriately certified medical scientist or technologist

After receiving an exam eligibility form, candidates should schedule an exam date and Pearson VUE test site
