Orthopaedic Technologist Certification (OTC) Exam Details and Test Preparation, Study Guide and Flash Cards
The Orthopaedic Technologist Certification (OTC) Exam is organized and administered by the National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists (NBCOT). The exams are conducted by ISO Quality Testing.
• Candidates must have spent two years full time Orthopaedics training related to Orthopaedics technology under direct guidance of an Orthopaedic Physician
• Or, Candidates must completed an approved Orthopaedics technologist Program or School and should have spent at least a year in full time Orthopaedic Technology employment (transcripts from school must be sent to NBCOT)
• Or, candidates must have completed a NATO accredited Orthopaedics technologist program/school or a US Military Orthopaedics program
• Or, candidates must be a licensed/certified Athletic trainer with at least 6 months full time employment related to Orthopaedics technology under the supervision of a cetified Orthopaedic Physician

Candidates will receive a confirmation letter via mail with information on how to schedule an exam date and venue
• Preoperative Management (17 questions) 12%
• Intraoperative Management (78 questions) 52%
• Postoperative Management (38 questions) 25%
• Regulatory and Ethical Responsibility (17 questions) 11%
• The exam is computer based with 150 multiple choice questions
• The exam is 3 hours
• Results are presented in a Pass or Fail format
• Exam application fee is $375
