Standard Law Enforcement Exams
There is no national, standard police entrance exam. Exams vary by state and agency, but are broadly similar, and all have these basic types of questions:
- Memory and recognition
- Spatial/Directional orientation
- Situational judgement and reasoning
- Reading comprehension
- Grammar, usage, writing, vocabulary and spelling
- Basic math and problem solving
Physical Requirements
Most departments have the following requirements:
- Running (1/2 or 1 mile)
- Sit-ups, push-ups or similar
- Stair-climb
- Simulated victim carry
- Obstacle course
- Clean medical exam
- Physiological assessment
